Overview

EkoBond is a modern water-based contact adhesive engineered specifically for aircraft fabric covering applications. It combines high flexibility with heat-workable properties and delivers exceptional shear strength. The application process is straightforward: the adhesive is brushed onto the airframe structure and left to dry, after which fabric is tacked into place using a close quarter covering iron. Once the fabric is positioned and trimmed, an additional wet coat of EkoBond is worked through the fabric with excess material wiped away. Due to its high shear strength rating, EkoBond has been certified to support a 1" overlap glue joint within an open bay, removing the requirement for sewn seams during covering or repair work. The formulation avoids hazardous solvents, fumes, flammability concerns, and strong odors, making it suitable for use even in enclosed indoor spaces such as a home workshop.
